The atmosphere is heavy with an approaching storm, the posture and affect of the women begin a story that each of us can finish according to the interpretation we feel is true. Who are these young women from the 50s? Are they waiting for the bus to carry them to work as secretaries? Three are wearing the white gloves so familiar to that time, and one grasps a banana. Is that fruit a symbol of the phallus, or is she merely carrying a mid morning snack?
