The Godmother

The Godmother © Jane Caminos

Oil 48″ x 44″

This jam packed canvas was begun from the 1947 Brooklyn Italian wedding photos. Even as I mapped out the figures I could hear faint grumbling, which grew louder as the faces came into focus and I stroked on the fashions. “I look terrible in red! I want a green dress.” or “Why do we all have the same flowers on our dresses? We’d never do that!” And on it went, blah, blah, with one nudging the other, and the you-know-what on the far right making her schwarmy cracks even as I threatened her very existence. “A few strokes and yer gone, baby!”
