Oil 28: x 18″

This painting was a commission for this couple, and was taken from a very blurry enlargement. I knew Jane, on the right, well but her partner, Claire, a Frenchwoman, was all but unfamiliar to me. Could I capture Claire to Jane’s satisfaction, given that I could barely make out her features from the photo? This one kept me awake at night while I suffered during the day with anxiety. I’m pleased, and relieved, to report the commission was a success. Whew.
