Cherries was taken from an Easter photo of Chris’ great aunt Ruth and her “special friend”, name unknown. They lived together in Greenwich Village in the 30s where they were free to enjoy their partnership.

The true story of this couple is tragic: Ruth was discovered strangled, the finger marks around her neck were made by her lover, who had gone on the lam. An uncle of Ruth’s was the Chief of NYC Detectives, and to spare the family from scandal, he covered up the murder. The lover, on the left, was never apprehended.
