In early summer, or late spring, depending on your attitude, and how close you are to trees, you may observe stealthy inchworms lowering themselves from above on self spun silk like operatives on a secret mission, camouflaged in green. This undertaking requires the intervention of avian forces, as depicted here. Because roosters are not known for exceptional flying skills, snatching the worms between tree and ground isn’t going to bring success, and this is why our portrayed fellow stands off to the side, speculating.
